This is beautiful, as master fully restored, Sharps 1878 Long Range single shot falling block target rifle. The serial number puts it out of the Sharps research range. Standard features include a heavy 32" blued round barrel, case colored frame and lever, gutta percha side panels, and checkered pistol grip walnut stock with Sharps gutta perch buttplate and black fore end tip. Sports a long range Vernier tang sight. Retains most of the fire blue finish. In addition is has the factory cut out at the rear top of comb for the heel sight. The front sight is the Spirit Level adjustable globe front that retains most of its original fire blue finish. Barrel retains virtually 99% of its reapplied rust blue with "Old Reliable" and "Sharps Bridgeport" stamps. Chambered for the .45 caliber in either the 2-4/10 or 2-6/10 cartridge. Wood has been freshened up to as new condition with sharp checkering, beautiful finish, pistol grip with the ebony insert, no cracks or chips and still proud to metal. the frame retains most of the brilliant case colors. Bore has strong rifling. Perfect action. Single trigger with the rear safety set, both are checkered. Really lovely long range rifle that would make a fine shooter even today.
