Offered is a probable European Brevette style copy of a Colt Third Model Dragoon. Standard features include and 8" barrel, .44 caliber, six shot, single action, blued finish, with case colored frame, brass grip straps, and walnut grips. The brass trigger guard and back strap have been cleaned at one time. Walnut grips are very good but do not fit flush to frame. No visible cylinder scene left. A rear sight has been cut into the top of the barrel, cutting through the lettering. The serial numbers on the bottom of the barrel and frame are partially obscured. Wedge number matches the butt, as does loading lever. Two left frame screws are extremely damaged. Does not index properly. All metal finishes range from a light patina to some darker wiped-on cold blue with pitting under surface. All the original nipples. Face of cylinder shows several areas of battering. No Colt stamp on frame. These type of guns were manufactured during the 1850's by a myriad of companies in Europe, most of which were destined for the South during the Civil War. This revolver has seen much use and is a good representative piece for this genre.
