Offered is a stunning high condition Winchester Model 1886 rifle. Features a 26" full octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, chambered in the .45-70 Winchester cartridge. The barrel retains 95% of the original factory blue finish with some light freckling. The magazine tube is about 70% blue mixing with soft patina. The frame, lever, and hammer retain approximately 80% case colors, most brilliant. Loading gate retains virtually all of the high polish factory blue. Walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, and have never been refinished. There is even some traces of case colors on the buttplate. The bore is gem-mint. Action is perfect. Manufactured in 1891. An extremely handsome case colored 86 in a popular caliber. Factory letter states that this rifle left the factory as a .40-82 and was rechambered for the .45-70, as you can still see the faint outline of the .40-82 underneath.
