Very rare Tivoli game, the best I have ever seen. "The Jolly Marble Game". You put a marble on the knob at the top and it zigzags down the five swinging figures with cups. Then down a ramp that you aim, to score holes. In absolutely remarkable shape. Each of the five cup figures and the knob figure are names. I have researched the names and cannot find any reference to them. They were probably known to English children in the 19th century. In remarkable shape, the best ive ever seen. Wood. Mid to late 1800s. Note: Labeled R.S Reed Toy Co., Leominster, Mass. Trade name used 1875 - 1897. Patent pending. Paten date is 1892, so this example is probably circa 1890. Exactly as depicted in Carl P. Stim catalog, Fall 1893. U.S. Paten No. 469, 948 Mar 1, 1892 by William S. Reed, assignor to W. S Reed Toy Company, Leominster, Mass.
