This revolver was manufactured in 1888. It is a standard so-called Sheriff's Model due to the lack of ejector. Standard features include 3-1/2" barrel, factory nickel finish, fine etched panel, six shot, double action, Colt gutta percha grips and chambered for the .41 long Colt cartridge. The Model 1877 in this caliber is referred to by collectors as the "Thunderer". Two features that make this gun desirable is the caliber and the etched panel. Barrel retains approximately 98% original factory nickel with some light muzzle wear. The frame and trigger guard are 95% with a couple usual handling marks. Etched panel is strong. The cylinder, under close examination, only retains 10-20% original factory nickel, but the rest has been cleaned to where it appears to be nickel. Grips are near mint. Nice fire blue on back of hammer, trigger, and grip screw. Working action. Strong clean bore. A fine example of a very popular Wild West revolver.
