This is a Springfield Armory M1A in .308 Winchester caliber. It is a Semi-auto rifle with a removable magazine. This weapon is one of the original Springfield Armory weapons known as THE DEVINE and was made while Springfield Armory was in Devine Texas (stamped under barrel). They were made with GI military-spec parts. This receiver is No. 002470. Front sight .062 and reamed flash hider with bayonet lug, NM hooded rear sight. NM rear sight is adjustable in ½ MOA increments through finer threads in the sight base and windage knob, and through half-turn rotation of a hooded eccentric rear sight aperture, which makes it one of the most accurate and fine-tuned sights ever made for the very few National Match rifles that were ordered by the Government. Bolt is stamped “SACA1. Gun sports a 22” barrel, parkerized finish, walnut stock, composite hand guard, and OD sling. Metal retains virtually all of the original finish. Wood is excellent. Fine bore and action. These early Devine M1s are getting extremely hard to come by.
