This U.S. contract musket is in stellar condition. Features a 42" barrel in .69 caliber smooth bore percussion ignition. Lockplate is dated 1843. It has the converted lock from flintlock. The walnut stock has two perfect cartouches on left side. Tang and lock are both dated 1843. Top of barrel is stamped "U.S.", "J.C.B." inspector, with the proof "P". Extremely clean bore and perfect lock. Wood has no cracks or chips and has never been refinished, albeit the buttplate may have been cleaned a tad. "U.S." stamped on buttplate. Extremely clean example of this early contract converted U.S. musket.
