Offered is a standard Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army semi-automatic .45 ACP pistol. This pistol was manufactured in 1943. It is a standard military issue with the parkerized finish. Right side of slide is stamped "M1911 A1 U.S. Army", left side of slide has the patent dates. Left side of frame has the "G.H.D." inspector and proof "P". Trigger guard has "R" inspector with the "VP" proof. Right side of frame has "United State Property" and "M1911 A1 US Army" with Ordinance wheel (light) and "80" stamped on trigger guard. G.H.D. stands for for Guy H. Drewry (June 1942 to July 1945). The crossed cannons were used from October 1942. The stocks are third variation Coltwood variety with reinforcing ring stamped "10". All small parts are checkered. Bore and action are fine. Has a standard blued magazine stamped "C-L". The barrel is stamped "Colt .45 Auto" with a proof "P" at breach base and "G" on bottom. Inside slide is stamped with a "G". The slide has approximately 95% original finish with high edge wear. Inside of frame is stamped "M9" and retains approximately 80% original finish with some finish loss and minor pitting on the bottom of trigger guard. Minor corrosion at bottom of frame. Nice example of a Colt World War II military pistol.
