According to the factory letter, this rifle was shipped on September 18th, 1890. It was shipped with a 26" octagon barrel, set trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, with a Winchester hard rubber buttplate, and is chambered for the .40-65 Winchester cartridge. Barrel has strong factory stamps. Full length tube retains nice evidence of factory blue (may be replacement). Barrel is a nice combination of brown and blue patina. Frame has turned a brown patina with no traces of color. The checkered wood stock is a beautiful fiery grain walnut with no cracks or chips. Checkering has been freshened a bit at one time. Still retains most of the original lacquer. Pistol grip has the ebony inset. Smooth buttplate. Has strong rifling with some minor corrosion. Standard sporting sights. Perfect action.
