This is a typical war-issue Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army referred to as the "Black Army". Left side of frame is stamped "United States Property" with the "J.M.G." inspector stamp. Left side of slide has the patent dates with horse in center. Right side of slide is stamped "Model 1911 U.S. Army". Barrel is a later replacement stamped "Colt .45 Auto". Has a replacement magazine. Original diamond checkered walnut grips. Other original features include the long smooth trigger, the long checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard. Grips are original but show wear. Frame retains approximately 70% of the original finish starting to plum, high edge wear, and pitting on trigger guard. The slide retains approximately 50% finish with high edge wear, minor pitting on top of slide, pitting on left side at front 1". Good example of a used World War I Model 1911.
