.40-82 caliber with a 26" barrel. According to the factory letter this was shipped as a rifle, caliber .40-82, full octagon barrel, adjustable set triggers, half magazine, with checkered pistol grip stock and was shipped on August 10th, 1892. This rifle remains in the above stated factory original configuration and in beautiful all original condition. The barrel retains approximately 90% original blue starting to soften with very minor high edge wear. The case colored receiver, which would have been standard, has basically silvered out with some fine soft age patina and traces of original colors, as does the hammer and lever. Has original Winchester sporting rear and front sights. The deluxe fiery grain checkered walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, with most of the checkering still sharp but starting to thin in spots. The rifle buttplate is basically patina. Bolt retains 80% original blue. Loading gate has about 25% original blue. Strong clean shiny bore. Perfect action. An extremely handsome deluxe Winchester model 1886 that letters all the way in a beautiful configuration.
