This is one of the 7,000 produced military rifle, manufactured in 1865. It does not have the saber bayonet lug. It is a standard late war-time model. Features 30" round barrel, walnut stock, iron furniture, .52 caliber percussion, three barrel bands, original sling swivels, patchbox on right side, a Lawrence patent rear sight and a block front with nickel blade. This gun is in all original condition. Metal is basically a smooth brown patina. Original nipple. Has two strong cartouche stamps on left side wrist. Forend has an old 4" hairline repaired crack otherwise the wood is extremely nice, never refinished and proud to metal. Bore has strong rifling with some minor abrasion. A wonderful, honest all original Civil War survivor.
