Gun was manufactured in 1869 as a standard Colt Model 1860 Army revolver. Features an 8" round barrel, .44 caliber, single action, six shot. It has been altered to fire cartridges using the Thuer conversion system, which consisted of cutting back the cylinder, fitting a special Thuer conversion collar and grooving the right side of frame. The cylinder and collar are typical Thuer per McDowell book. There is a "31" and a "0" on the back of the cylinder as well as the back of collar. Collar is dated September 15th, 1868. It has the script letter "E". All numbers matching on gun except cylinder not readable and wedge not numbered. The plunger is not threaded. A few original examples exist without threading but usually indicates an outside-of-the-factory conversion. Gun is basically patina with some minor areas of freckling. Cylinder retains traces of scene. Factory stamps are fine. Left side of barrel has some light corrosion. Stocks are very good with most of the original varnish, shy at toe and some minor chips. Indexes fine. Strong bore with some light corrosion.
