Manufactured 1845 to 1848. Manufactured in Windsor, Vermont. Sideplate so marked and dated 1851. All other features are as standard for a Model 1841 U.S. percussion rifle, A.K.A. "Mississippi Rifle". It is a .54 caliber single shot percussion with 33" barrel and two barrel bands. Has brass mountings, brown barrel, lock is case colored with trumpet head brass tip steel ramrod. Large brass patchbox on right side. Walnut stock. Brass barrel band, nose cap, trigger guard and buttplate. Buttplate is stamped "U.S.". Barrel has "L.B.C. U.S. P" stamped at breech. Missing rear sight. Walnut stock has visible cartouche on left side. The walnut stock is excellent with no cracks. Barrel, sideplate and hammer are a beautiful smooth patina. Brass has not been cleaned or polished. Has the original nipple. Fine working order. A very nice above average example.
