This revolver was original manufactured in 1915 as a standard New Service double action revolver chambered for the .455 Eley cartridge. Standard features include .45 caliber, 5-1/2" barrel, six shot, double action. This revolver was shipped to Great Britain probably for the first World War and has proper British proofs on frame, cylinder and barrel. Has the standard gutta percha grips with lanyard loop in butt. This gun was eventually refinished, most likely by the British Arsenal and a parkerized war-time finish was applied. The cylinder was altered to accept the .45 Colt cartridge. Stamped "CAL. 45 COLT" on barrel. The gun retains 95% of this reapplied war-time military dull finish. Action and lock up are perfect. Nice clean bore. Good example of a sturdy Colt that more than likely saw service in Europe through two World Wars.
