Manufactured by W.L. Evans in Evansburg, Pennsylvania. Approximately 5,000 manufactured circa 1825 to 1830. Sideplate is dated 1825 and stamped "Evans Valley Forge". It has been converted to percussion, otherwise rifle is standard as follows: .69 caliber, single shot, 42" round barrel, three barrel bands, iron mountings. All metal surfaces are dark brown patina with areas of heavy rust pitting. Extremely rough at last 3" of breach. Sideplate has been refinished as has pitting. Wood is chipped and cracked with damage at buttplate. Original nipple. Has an original period sling. This is a Civil War used relic.
