40” barrel in .44 bore-percussion. Offered is an exquisite golden age full stock Penn. long rifle with the so called “Doll Face” patch box. The finial of the patch box is engraved with what appears to be the face of a woman. We could not find an example of such in either of the patch box books. It is a flintlock that was manufactured by M.M. Maslin of Philadelphia. Features a full octagon barrel with set rear sight and small brass front, brass forend cap, pinned barrel, three brass retaining thimbles, brass trigger guard with the single trigger, brass buttplate and toe plate, and simple Pennsylvania style cheek piece. Stock retains its original hand rubbed finish, is not striped, and is in excellent condition with a contained crack and vintage 1” repair at left cheek piece. The patch box exhibits light engraving in addition to the doll face. The stock has a Lancaster school profile. This is a phenomenal early golden era Penn. rifle with the unique patchbox.
EARLY PENN. FLINTLOCK LONG RIFLE (DOLL FACE).
