This is an early flintlock with the octagon solid brass barrel. The lock appears to be French but the brass barrel and the rest of the gun seem to have been assembled in America. There are no proof marks on barrel. Barrel measures 14-3/8 inches with a 1-1/2 inch muzzle. Has a walnut stock that has some finish added and areas of chipping around tang and bruises. Has a brass trigger guard and butt plate. Has a single rod retaining thimble on end. Has a replacement wooden rod. Fine example of an 18th century American Blunderbuss.
EARLY AMERICAN BRASS BARREL BLUNDERBUSS.
