38” barrel in .52 bore-flintlock. Lovely all original Penn. long rifle that features a full octagon barrel with set rear sight and blade front. Has brass forend cap, three barrel wedges with no plates, three brass retaining thimbles, brass trigger guard, buttplate, toeplate, and patchbox. The lock was manufactured by Ketland in London. Has double set triggers and a silver moon on left cheek piece, otherwise devoid of ornamentation. Barrel and lock are a smooth brown patina. Striped stock is excellent with a repair at right middle wedge. Patchbox has some light engraving. Work is not signed. The patchbox finial closely resembles the work of Christian Beck or Jacob George. Jacob was of Berks County, Christian was of Lebanon County. Fine early Penn.
