45" barrel in .54 bore-flintlock. Kiser signed from Jefferson Furnace, Pennsylvania Clarion County. Beautiful signed Pennsylvania full stock flintlock long rifle. Rifle features a full octagon barrel that is stamped by the maker “A. Kiser”. The flintlock is stamped “London Warranted” and is manufactured in London. The beautiful oil finished striped stock retains all of its original piano finish. Has four barrel keys with elliptical plates. Has four brass retaining thimbles. The original rod has the same striped finish as the stock. Brass forend tip, trigger guard, buttplate, toe plate and patch box. Double set triggers. Has a nickel thumb plate. Engraved silver star on left side. Small Pennsylvanian style cheek piece. A. Kiser is not mentioned in any of the Chandler or Kaufman books, but he is mentioned in the American Gunsmiths' Book by Sellers with no available information. We are attributing this to Franklin County based on the stylistic form of both the patch box and the stock. It is a beautiful, all original rifle that remains in museum condition. With note, the patch box won’t lock into place and needs adjusting. This untouched, attic find master piece features the daisy patchbox with dished leaves, a very rare design that we could not find in any book.
