28” barrel in .41 bore-percussion. Top of the barrel is stamped “W. Lewis Maker Holmesville NY”. This beautiful heavy barrel half stock short rifle was built by William Lewis in the early 1870s. It features a part octagon heavy barrel with solid under rib, rear sight blank empty, globe front sight with a sight blade on top of globe, rear lollipop sight, piano finish walnut half stock, two brass thimbles retain rod, nickel silver forend cap, nickel palm plate, nickel trigger guard stamped “J. Trout”, nickel buttplate with an extended heel and toe tang, nickel patch box, nickel accents, three figures on left side to include a dog, star, and tree. Rifle remains in beautiful condition. The barrel is a mix of blue starting to flake, but some is still brilliant. Stock has the piano finish and has had an expertly restored wrist crack. Has a single set trigger. Hammer does not stay back and will need some minor attention. Beautiful New York rifle.
