This is a rare signed Berks County, Pa. rifle made by Adam Angstadt. He operated his gun shop in the Maxatawny Township in Berks County, Pa. at the turn of the 18th century and is on the tax list in 1800 and 1805. It is a traditional rifle that features full octagon barrel with a fixed rear sight, brass blade front. Barrel is stamped on top flat. This early flintlock full stock Pennsylvania Rifle sports a London manufactured lock. Has three brass retaining thimbles. Beautiful rich striped stock, left side has the tradition Pennsylvania cheek piece, brass buttplate, toe plate, and trigger guard. Features double set triggers. Brass patch box. There is a repaired crack at rear thimble. Wood has darkened on left side. Several brass decorations. Has a contained crack at toe. Metal is brown patina.
