38” barrel in .70 bore-percussion. Der Neve Stockell by Martin Desponds Switzerland, vaud 1816-1850. This heavy barrel target rifle is stamped “B. Desponds” on breech barrel flat. The style of this rifle combined with the maker, would lead us to believe this would be Swiss or French origin. Sports a large wind-drift target rear sight. The knife blade front sight is dovetailed at the very end of the barrel (unusual placement). Has a full stock, straight grain walnut with three retaining wedges and brass plates. Has a horn forend tip, three brass retaining thimbles. Butt stock is finely checkered at the wrist. Has a very thick, heavy brass buttplate, a Swiss or German style brass trigger guard with set triggers and a rear sling swivel. Left side of stock has two exposed turn screws. Very nice, highly detailed and beautifully crafted percussion target rifle in excellent shape. Barrel is a pleasing mix of blue-brown patina, as is the lock. Stock is in near mint condition with no cracks.
