37-1/2” barrel in .16 bore-percussion. Offered is a lovely French smooth bore fowling piece that was converted in its original flintlock form. It is an octagon to round barrel. Has the French gold touch mark at breech. Barrel is a smooth brown patina with decoration at turn. Barrel is secured by three silver bands. Middle band and stock have sling swivels. Lock is signed “H. Dubois Fils A St Omer”. The stock exhibits wonderful carvings with an intricate silver buttplate and trigger guard. Carved left side cheek piece. Wood retains majority of its original piano finish, in excellent shape with some minor dings. Mid-18th century, with later conversion, is in beautiful condition.
