36" barrel, .41bore-flintlock. The full octagon barrel is signed with the initials that appear to be "S. L.". In researching this weapon we find a similar signature and patch box style on page 234 and 235 of the Kentucky Rifle Patch Boxes book by Chandler. The lock was manufactured by Henry Parker and is stamped. Lock is lightly engraved, barrel is signed with a star between the initials and has some light decoration. Has a fixed rear sight with a brass blade front. It is full stock, striped with 29 silver hearts and ovals on both sides with an additional 3 at wrist. There is an engraved silver decoration at base of fore arm. It has wrap around brass butt plate, trigger guard, 3 thimbles, and brass forend. The patch box has light decoration with a heart shaped cut out, has double set triggers, the stock is in excellent condition with no cracks or damage, barrel is a dark chocolate brown patina as is lock, brass is a deep mustard and has never been cleaned or polished. This is in extremely fine condition, early full stock Pennsylvania rifle, in excellent condition.
