37-1/2" in .60 bore-percussion. Offered is an early flintlock half stock sporting rifle. Full octagon barrel is signed “Nathan H. Foster”. No rear sight and a single bead front. The barrel rib is made of wood and the rod and retained by three brass thimbles. Sports a brass forend tip and a single barrel wedge. The lock is stamped “D. Dana”. Features a striped oil finished half stock that is checkered at wrist with a repair. Brass buttplate and trigger guard with single trigger, and a delicately engraved brass patch box with some dents. Barrel and lock are smooth brown patina. Fine early signed half stock.
