42" barrel in .52 bore-flintlock. While this classic Pennsylvania rifle is not signed, the patch box is identified in the Kentucky Rifle Patch Box book by Chandler on page 191, plate 358 as a “J.S.H.”. We are not sure of who J.S.H. is. Has a Bethlehem school style stock. Features the full octagon barrel with set rear sight and dovetail front. Barrel has stock wedges with no plates. Three brass thimbles hold the brass tipped rod. Lock was manufactured by Joseph Golcher. Has a single trigger, finely checkered wrist with brass buttplate, toe plate, and patch box. The patch box is unadorned and has the button release. The striped stock is excellent with beautiful finish, exhibits some light carving on left side with small cheek piece and some fine carving. Barrel and lock are brown patina. Brass is a deep mustard patina.
