.41 LC caliber with a 2-1/2" barrel. Colt factory letter verifies that this Model 1877 was shipped on January 8th, 1901 in a shipment of one gun to Montgomery Ward & Co. in Chicago with a blued 2-1/2" barrel, .41 caliber with grips not listed. This revolver is in virtually new condition, all original. The barrel and cylinder retain 95% of the factory iridescent blue with just some minor edge wear and starting to thin in spots. The back strap and trigger guard retain approximately 90% of the brilliant blue. When examining the blue, the light thinning is actually only visible under lighted magnification and appears to be 90% or better. All of the screws retain their brilliant fire blue, as does the back of the hammer and trigger. The cylinder face shows no signs of having ever been fired. 98% brilliant case colors present on both sides of frame. Top of hammer retains all the brilliant fire blue. Grips are near mint. Bore and action are perfect. This unfired short barrel .41 caliber Thunderer is simply amazing and has to be one of the finest such examples extant and would be nearly impossible to find a like model with this much original condition. The best we have ever seen.
