.38 LC caliber with a 3-1/2" barrel. Factory letter states that this revolver was shipped on July 28th, 1877 to J.C. Grubb & Co. in Philadelphia in a seven gun shipment. It is listed as a nickel finish, barrel length and stocks not listed. This is a very scarce high condition all original first year of manufacture. It is the "Sheriff" or "Storekeeper" model without ejector. Other early features include the checkered rosewood grips and the early etched panel. Revolver has survived in excellent all original condition. The etched panel is easily readable, legends are perfect, grips are near mint. Retains approximately 95% original nickel finish with some light clouding. There is no burn on the ends of the cylinder. Brilliant fire blue on back of hammer and trigger. Action functions as new both single and double. Bore is mint. An extremely nice high condition original early Lightning.
