.44-40 caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured 1879 to 1886. Standard features include 24” round barrel, full magazine, walnut stock and sporting sights. This rifle is in near relic condition. The butt stock is a crude replacement, front sight is a replacement, forearm has a repair and is under-sized, several replaced screws of the wrong type, some minor wrench marks at rear of barrel. Metal is basically brown patina with freckling and spotting. Hammer does not engage firing pin. Strong rifled bore. Early Western gun that is basically a wall-hanger, restoration project, or for parts.
