Caliber is .52 bore, barrel length is 32-5/8". This is referred to as a contract model 1819 by Simeon North in Middletown, Connecticut and manufactured from 1830-1836 in a quantity of 5,700. These were originally manufactured utilizing the flint lock firing system but this gun has been converted to the percussion system. The only stamp visible on block is S. North, left side of frame is stamped N.W.P. The frame exhibits small amounts of black enamel while the balance is a dark chocolate brown patina mixed with rust and pitting. Barrel is a mix of brown gun metal gray and freckling. Barrel bands are dark brown, stock is excellent but has been refinished and is shy to metal and it is missing the rod. A fairly decent representative piece of a scarce U.S. contract musket.
HALL MODEL 1819 U.S. BREECH LOADING RIFLE.
