33" barrel in .54 bore. The lock is marked “Jones” and is probably the work of John Jones of Birmingham, England, 1829 to 1835. The rifle is not signed. Features a heavy full octagon barrel with ½” flats, fixed rear sight and dovetail brass front, full length walnut stock with brass forend and three keys, three brass retaining thimbles, brass palm plate, trigger guard, buttplate and toe plate. Has a nickel thumb plaque and silver star on both sides of stock. Double sided Pennsylvania type cheek piece on both sides. Barrel appears to be finish in the white and has just aged brown freckling overall. Stock is near mint. Brass is lovely patina. Hammer has some wiped on finish. Lock is grey-brown patina. Fairly scarce offering that you seldom encounter a heavy barrel full stock sporting rifle with this configuration in lovely condition.
