36-1/2” barrel in .44 bore-percussion. This is a finely made, no-nonsense, full stock, full octagon sporting rifle. Barrel features a fixed rear sight with small blade front with sharp edges and a grey-brown patina with age freckling. The lock is stamped " Jas. Golcher - Philada.”. Has a straight grain walnut full stock with pin barrel, three brass retaining thimbles, brass forend cap, trigger guard and rifle buttplate. Brass is excellent and has never been cleaned. Has the Pennsylvania style cheek piece. No patch box. Wood is finished in a deep rich finish. High quality full stock mid-19th century sporting rifle.
