.36 caliber percussion with a 5" barrel. Manufactured 1859 to 1868 in Newark. This is the .36 caliber five shot Navy type. These revolvers were extremely popular and a strong competitor to Colt during the Civil War era. All metal surfaces have basically faded to a soft gun metal patina with some age freckling. Cylinder scene is strong, as are barrel legends. The original walnut grips retain 90% original varnish and are in excellent condition. Trigger guard retains approximately 30% original nickel plating with the balance mellow brass. All numbers match except wedge (which is a replacement). Missing the wedge locking nut. All of the screws are slightly burred. Cylinder does not index and will need some minor attention. Bore is strong and clean. With the attention to the mechanics and screws, this would be a fine example of a popular Civil War revolver.
