In a Byzantine style typical of the original, this popular Catholic Madonna and Child painting features inscriptions that stand for "Mother Of God" in Greek and a Christogram as well as images of Archangels Michael and Gabriel. Signed in the bottom right Ozele 16.1X.13. Gold background on thick canvas shows a few areas of damage, including one tear at the top right in addition to a few spots throughout. Estimated age circa 1800, possibly earlier.
