The rifle is a US Springfield Model 1903 Mark 1. It is Serial No. 1052113. Rifle was manufactured in 1918 and was one of the special rifles that was cut for the Pedersen device. The barrel is dated 12-18 and stamped S.A. for Springfield Armory. The receiver, bolt, barrel, trigger guard and floor plate are all correct WWI parts retaining 80 percent of their original blued finish as rifle was assembled in 1918. The original rifle was brought in for an arsenal overhaul sometime around WWII and worn out parts were replaced and the rifle was restocked to be reissued to troops during the second world war. The collar and sight were replaced with WWII version. It is missing the front sight winded adjusting screw. It has the gas hole on the right side as well as two tap holes on the right side for a sight of some sort. The barrel band is a pressed replacement as is the front barrel band. It has the replacement WWII walnut stock with the O.G. cartouche in box on left side with proof P on bottom. Also an FJA in rectangular box at wrist which stands for Frank Atwood. Stock is excellent. No cracks. Very few minor dings. Has a muzzle reading of 1 1/2. Has the smooth steel butt plate. Strong bore and perfect action.The next item in this lot is a Japanese Samuri sword. Serial number 100065. The blade is very nice and has a brown patina overall with a nice edge. Does not appear to have been sharpened. Has a slightly dented and rusted scabbard. Has a wooden handle with no wrap or wire. There is a small Japanese flag that has been signed by the American 130th infantry, 33rd division. All of the Americans had signed their name and where they were from. Excellent condition. The last item in this lot is a 1943 US Property Model M8 flare pistol that retains approximately 95 percent of its original finish with black composite grips.
