.44-40 caliber with a 5-7/8" barrel. This revolver started off life as a 7-1/2" with blued finish. The barrel has been shortened, sight set back and refinished. Barrel legend is thinning. Retains approximately 50% of the re-applied finish with some general freckling. The cylinder retains approximately 90% of the original blue but is a more modern replacement and does not have the beveled edge. The frame, back strap and trigger guard are basically a soft brown-grey patina. Frame legends are perfect. First generation hammer has been refinished. Has very good period walnut grips that are a bit shy to metal and have six kill notches. Cylinder indexes fine, but the hammer is missing the 'At Ease' (loading) notch. Ejector housing is brown-grey patina. Bore is mint.
