Boxed Winchester Model 55 rime fire rifle barrel length 22" and caliber 22R.f. This rifle remains an enigma to most collectors, even some of the most seasoned veterans have never seen or heard of this rifle. If was manufactured 1957-1961 only. What makes this gun unusual is that its a semi automatic self loading rifle but also a single shot in that the safety goes on when each cartridge is inserted into the chamber. The rifle features the blue finish and a plain pistol grip walnut stock. This example remains in near new condition inside and out with only a couple of very minor rubs to the metal from storage. The walnut stocks are excellent with no cracks or chips. It shows only some minor storage wear from being stored in its original Winchester cardboard hinged box that retains the original Winchester end label. The box has the original shipping label August 18, 1960 and was shipped to San Antonio Texas. It is a rifle that is seldom seen or maybe just not noticed. Includes a rare original box.
