.44 bore percussion with an 8" barrel. These revolvers were manufactured from 1863 to 1865. They were manufactured by Starr Arms in New York City. This revolver was part of a collection that has been sitting in a bank vault since the 1960s. It is the finest condition Starr revolver this writer has ever seen. It remains in virtually near new condition, all original, never touched in any way. Standard features include high polish blue finish, six shot, single action, with case colored hammer and loading lever and walnut grips. These were manufactured for the military and the metal has all proper inspector marks. The mint walnut one piece grips have a strong as new cartouche on both panels. The barrel retains 98% of the original factory high polish blue with some light muzzle wear. Frame retains 95% of the high polish blue with a couple of minor freckles. The cylinder retains approximately 85% original high polish blue mixed with some soft patina. Nipples are original, in mint condition and do not appear to have ever seen a cap. There is no cylinder burn. Screws retain virtually all of the fire blue finish. Hammer and loading lever retain their brilliant case colors. Walnut grips are mint. The only appreciable wear is the bottom of the trigger guard and grip straps, which have greyed out. A spectacular example of one of the most popular weapons used during the Civil War.
