.44 Russian with a 5-1/4" barrel. These were manufactured from 1878 to 1912, but all of the frames were manufactured prior to 1898 and are all antique. They were a very strong competitor in the 1880s to the Colt Single Action and were widely used in the Old West. Bob Ford supposedly shot Jesse James with a New Model No. 3 and Virgil Earp carried a Russian Model from the same family of revolvers. This revolver has had its barrel period shortened and the front sight set back. All metal surfaces are a smooth brown patina with traces of the original nickel finish. The original gutta percha grips have almost worn smooth. Cylinder indexes perfectly but the extractor is not working. Cylinder number matches frame, as does latch. Three of the screws on the left side are scarred. Has a great Old West look.
