Caliber is .60bore-flintlock and barrel length is 12 1/2"This early high quality flintlock pistol has a maker stamp on the lock plate as follows "Jean Formin.." We are assuming French origin due to partially readable lock plate and over all design. The barrel is staged and proof marked on left flat. Beautiful one piece walnut stock with piano finish has large brass butt with gargoyle, brass trigger guard, brass foreign tip, 2 brass retaining thimbles, original brass tip rod and brass decorative left side panel with 3 figures. All metal is a smooth brown patina. The piano finish stocks are in beautiful condition, finely carved, retaining the majority of the original finish with some minor chipping at butt and front toe. Extremely fine 18th century flintlock pistol.
