Caliber .45-90 WCF with a 28" barrel. Manufactured in 1896. Offered is a clean all original special order Winchester model 1886 in the popular .45-90 caliber. It features a 28" barrel (2" longer than standard). The barrel is a full octagon with full magazine and has walnut stocks with rifle butt. Sports the German nickel blade front sight with an 1876 dated folding ladder rear sight. The metal surfaces of this rifle have mellowed to a fine chocolate brown patina appearance with some original blue remaining on loading gate and bolt. Walnut stocks are very good, the forearm is not cracked with no major chips albeit a bit shy to the metal. The butt stock has a few chips at plate and is similarly a bit shy to metal but no visible cracks. Function is flawless, strong rifle bore with some minor black powder abrasion. Has true western character.
