Caliber .44-40 with a 20" barrel. Manufactured in 1898. Desirable antique Winchester model 1892 carbine in the .44-40 caliber. This is a standard saddle ring carbine in all respects with the exception to the Winchester 3 leaf folding express rear site and was made in 1898, putting it in the antique serial number range. Features include; 20" barrel, full magazine, blued finish, walnut stocks, carbine butt with saddle ring and stud. Front sight is standard traditional post. The barrel is a dark charcoal gun metal grey patina. The tube retains 50% original blue, starting to thin and is possible replacement. The frame is a dull gun metal grey and was cleaned at one time. Barrel legend is somewhat washed out. The walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, no chips except for a 1" hairline crack at right and left side of butt at plate, fine screw heads. Perfect working order. Decent visible rifling with usual black powder abrasion. Some minor muzzle wear.
