It is a 70 bore, barrel length is 37". This is the Model 1793 type 1, manufactured from 1794-1809. Barrel measures 37" to breech and 39" to tang. The ram rod is held by three pipes and the upper sling swivel is centered on the long trumpet. The barrel breech includes all the British proofs. There was a barrel stamp on top which is no longer readable which may have been an ordinance stamp. The brass buttplate is stamped G-I which is probably a unit. Gun remains in excellent condition. The barrel is a smooth pleasing brown patina. The full length stock is in excellent condition with no cracks and very few minor sings with original finish. The lock plate is stamped "Tower" with British crown and GR. There is a sling swivel in trigger guard. It remains in its original flintlock condition. The wood to metal fit is perfect with no chipping around the tang or barrel channel. Left side stock stamped WL. Just a beautiful, clean, High Condition Brown Bess, the type that would have seen action in the war of 1812, but was produced as early as 1794. Really incredible, in all original condition and rarely offered, or seen, this nice.
