42" barrel, .12bore-smooth bore-flintlockThe barrel remains unsigned but the lock was manufactured by J. Tarrott. This is a typical flintlock sporting musket or fowling piece are often called. It is a full stock, smooth bore with a single bead sight, has a beautifully striped and finished stock with a decorative checkered wrist, smooth brass butt plate and engraved heel. The barrel and lock are a beautiful smooth clean soft brown patina. The stock is in near mint, all original, condition. Checkering is still sharp, brass is a dark mustard. This is one of the nicest condition late 18th century fowling pieces we have seen. Lack of proof marks would lead us to believe this is American manufactured.
