Well-made but unmarked early bowie knife features a 9-3/4" choil blade with a heavy 3/8" spine, single edge, brass quillon and ricasso, solid ivory scales and what looks like copper bolsters. The heel at blade has a decorative cut. Tip is intact but softened. Ivory scales have usual age stress cracks. Blade is clean with age spotting, no signs of sharpening and some minor nicks on edge. Very impressive large bowie knife.
