This futuristic bicycle was designed in 1946 by Benjamin G. Bowden (1907-1998) but wasn't actually manufactured until 1960. The high price at the time ($89.50) kept sales down to only about 500 bicycles. These bicycles are known to be highly collectible. There is a "Bowden" plate near the front, the mounted light is marked "Delta Electric Company", the plate on the seat reads "Persons Worchester, Mass.", the handlebar grips are marked "Elgin", and there is a "Bomard Industries" plate with serial number BO 10369. The bicycle also comes with some paperwork, including an advertisement for the bicycle, an information sheet, a 1993 AutoWeek article about a Spacelander replica, and a binder of various copies, including a Chestnut Hollow Classic Bicycle Accessories Catalog, a Car Collector article on Ben Bowden, several other Bowden Spacelander articles, schematics of the bicycle, the press release for the Bomard Industries Bowden, advertisements, pictures, etc. Also includes some spare parts, 2 trophies, and a carrier rack.
