The US military was reluctant to give new recruits actual firing weapons when they first reported, and instead issued these firearm type training models. The first model measures 59" long and is referred to as Fencing Training Dummy, which was used to simulate bayonet fighting. The second is a wood and metal model of the 1903 Springfield with a working bolt. Both date prior to the Second World War and are an interesting part of American military history
