Barrel length 42”, .69 caliber flintlock. Manufactured from 1812-1821. Lock is stamped “Virginia Manufactory” forward of hammer and “Richmond 1818” at rear. This is a late style that features the brass flash pan with fence. All other features standard Springfield. It is apparent that this lock was installed on a Springfield rifle. These muskets were finished in the white, with walnut stocks, butt plate stamped “US”, barrel has VP proof on left side, side plate is stamped “S”, has three barrel bands, sling swivel on bow and middle band. It has a slotted ramrod. All metal is extremely clean, turning a golden hue, having never been polished and giving off a straw hue. Stocks are excellent with just a few minor dings. Original owner has carved three initials in left side of stock above side plate. Excellent bore with minor abrasion.
