Barrel 38", .75 smooth bore flintlock. Top of barrel has the Belgian proof mark, tang and right side of barrel are stamped "266". Left side of barrel is stamped "ISL" and some other indiscernible markings. The style of this musket is along the same lines as a Brown Bess. The barrel is finished in the white, lock is unmarked, stock configuration similar to Brown Bess. Has sling swivel at rear tang and on front stock between two trumpets. Rod is retains by four trumpet style tubes. Trigger guard and butt plate are brass. Stock is numbered to gun. This is the type of musket that was used by Hessian troops during the Revolutionary War. This example is an honest and clean, all original flintlock musket dating to that period.
